There is an old saying that goes, ‘you never get a second chance to make a great first impression.’ does this apply to your businesses as well? Oh yes, it does!!!
The first impression a business or a person creates with a potential client, is what forms the basis of their relationship with them. First impressions are critical online just as they are offline.
First impressions define the first connection
Ever had a total stranger walk up to you with a sales pitch hoping to close a sale? That approach is fruitless. I have had such experiences a couple of times online and to be honest with you, approaching me with a sales pitch, instead of a friendly introduction, demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of how sales and marketing works!
Why would you want to attach my name to your product when you have not made an effort build a relationship with me? How do I best serve you when I know nothing about you or your product? A simple, ‘Hi, my name is George,’ goes a long way.'
Unfortunately, it's this kind of sloppy marketing that is employed by the vast majority of small, online businesses.
First online impressions matter too!
A person who doesn't know you won’t be willing to buy from you. What you need to do to make huge sales online and offline is, focus on creating a great initial impression in the mind of your target market! Online impressions are created through your small business website, Facebook page, email communications, social media communications, and search engine results, and they either bring potential customers in or send them away.
Online aesthetics, visual appeal, and other design factors matter the same way physical approach does. Your online marketing should be attractive enough to keep potential clients interested, the longer they stay, the more favourable it is to your business.
Now that you have made a great first impression, what’s next? How you respond to your clients on social media is a huge part of the customer experience. When someone is reaching out to your brand on social media, you need to be listening and ready to respond. Look out for my next blog post for more on this.
